This 50:50 joint venture was established in 1972 by the merger of Swire's Taikoo Dockyard & Engineering Company with Hutchison Whampoa's Hongkong & Whampoa Dock Company to form Hongkong United Dockyards ("HUD"). Headquartered in Tsing Yi, the company provides engineering, harbour towage and salvage services.
Trading as Hongkong Salvage & Towage ("HKST"), the HUD group's Salvage & Towage Division is the largest towage operator in Hong Kong. HKST has 19 vessels in its fleet, including six container vessels.
