SWIRE BEVERAGES
Swire Beverages has the franchise to manufacture, market and distribute products of The Coca-Cola Co. in Hong Kong and Taiwan, as well as 11 states in the USA and seven provinces in Mainland China. This represents a total franchise population of over 420 million. Swire Beverages is recognised as one of a select group of strategic business partners of The Coca-Cola Co. known as the 'Anchor Bottlers'. Swire also works closely with The Coca-Cola Co. on brand development and marketing.

The relationship with Coca-Cola began in 1965 with the acquisition of a majority shareholding in the Hong Kong franchise, a business known today as Swire Coca-Cola HK Ltd. Swire Pacific acquired the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Salt Lake City in 1978. The following year saw the historic first consignment of bottled Coca-Cola for sale in Mainland China in the cities of Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai.

Swire Beverages Ltd.
This company is a joint venture between Swire Pacific (87.5%) and The Coca-Cola Co. (12.5%). It is the principal holding company for Swire's soft drink activities in Mainland China and Hong Kong, with interests in eight bottling operations.

Swire Coca-Cola HK Ltd.
Swire Pacific owns 87.5% of Swire Coca-Cola, which is the franchised bottler in Hong Kong for Coca-Cola and other top brands of The Coca-Cola Co.. The company produces over 47 million unit cases of beverages for Hong Kong's population of almost seven million - an almost 87-fold increase over the 541,667 unit cases recorded in 1966, the first year under Swire management.

 

Swire Coca-Cola has a market share of more than 80% of Hong Kong's carbonated soft drinks market. In addition to Coca-Cola, it also bottles Coke Light, Lemon Coke, Lemon Coke Light, Vanilla Coke, Vanilla Coke Light, Sprite, Sprite Light, Fanta, the Schweppes range of soft drinks, the Hi-C range of juices, Healthworks wellness drinks as well as Powerade sport drinks and Bonaqua mineralised water. The company also distributes Nagomi Honey Green Tea and Tian Yu Di teas, and markets ready-to-drink Nescafé and Nestea.

Swire BCD Co., Ltd.
Swire BCD Co. is a joint venture between Swire Beverages Ltd. (85%) and CITIC. It holds the majority interest in five Coca-Cola bottling plants in Mainland China, with franchised territories covering Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shaanxi, Henan and Anhui provinces. The largest of the five plants are located in Hangzhou and Nanjing.

Swire Guangdong Coca-Cola Ltd.
This company is 44.6% owned by Swire Pacific and is the principal franchisee for Coca-Cola products in Guangdong Province. Located in the Huangpu district of Guangzhou, the company operates Swire Beverages' largest bottling plant in Mainland China, running five production lines. It serves over 60 million consumers within Guangdong province.

Swire Guangdong Coca-Cola produces and sells Coca-Cola, Coke Light, Lemon Coke Light, Sprite, Fanta, Smart, Tian Yu Di mineralised water, Sensation purified water and Qoo juice and also distributes Minute Maid, Nestea and Modern Tea Workshop beverages.

Hangzhou BC Foods Company Ltd.
Established in 1989, Hangzhou BC Foods has a bottling plant situated in Xiasha on the outskirts of Hangzhou and one in Wenzhou. Serving a catchment area of 47 million people in Zhejiang Province, Hangzhou BC Foods manufactures and distributes the Coca-Cola range of products, including Sensation and Minute Maid. Swire Pacific holds a 44.6% effective interest in the company.

Swire Coca-Cola Beverages Hefei Ltd.
This company is 59.5% owned by Swire Pacific and is the principal franchisee for Coca-Cola products in Anhui Province. Located in the Hefei Economic and Technological Development Zone, the company currently operates the largest soft drink production facility in the province, with an annual capacity of 16 million unit cases, and further capacity through contract packing. Sales is in excess of 16 million unit cases.

The company produces and sells Coca-Cola, Coke Light, Lemon Coke Light, Sprite, Fanta, Smart, Tian Yu Di mineralised water, Sensation purified water and Qoo juice and also distributes Schweppes carbonated soft drinks, Minute Maid and Nestea.

Nanjing BC Foods Company Ltd.
Swire Pacific owns 44.6% of Nanjing BC Foods, which is the principal franchisee for Coca-Cola products in Jiangsu Province. Established in 1989, the company currently operates the largest soft drink production facility in the province, with an annual capacity of 64 million unit cases and sales in excess of 61 million unit cases.

Swire Coca-Cola Beverages Xiamen Ltd.
Established in 1998, this company was previously 44.625% owned by Swire Pacific. As a result of the acquisition of an additional 49% interest in September 2006, the company is currently 93.625% owned by Swire Pacific. It is the principal franchisee for Coca-Cola products in Fujian Province and serves over 35 million consumers with an annual production capacity of 70 million unit cases.

Swire Coca-Cola Beverages Xiamen produces and sells Coca-Cola, Coke Light, Sprite, Fanta, Smart, Tian Yu Di mineralised water, Sensation purified water and Qoo juice and also distributes Schweppes carbonated soft drinks, Minute Maid and Nestea.

Xian BC Coca-Cola Beverages Ltd.
Established in 1993, Xian BC Coca- Cola Beverages is the first Coca-Cola bottler in Shaanxi Province. It has a production capacity of 25 million unit cases and serves a catchment area of 37 million people throughout the province. Xian BC Coca-Cola Beverages manufactures and distributes the Coca-Cola range of products, as well as Tian Yu Di and Sensation. Swire Pacific holds a 74.38% effective interest in the company.

Swire Coca-Cola Beverages Zhengzhou Ltd.
Swire Pacific owns 60.68% of Swire Coca-Cola Beverages Zhengzhou, which is the principal franchisee for Coca-Cola products in Henan Province. Established in 1996, the company currently operates the largest soft drink production facility in the province, with an annual capacity of 31 million unit cases and sales in excess of 28 million unit cases.

The company produces and sells Coca-Cola, Coke Light, Lemon Coke Light, Sprite, Fanta, Smart, Tian Yu Di mineralised water, Sensation purified water, Qoo juice and also distributes Schweppes carbonated soft drinks, Minute Maid and Nestea.

Swire Coca-Cola, USA
Swire Coca-Cola, USA has two production facilities at Salt Lake, Utah, and Fruitland, Idaho, and 27 sales centres throughout the western USA. The eleven-state franchise territory extends from part of Washington in the north to Arizona in the south, and from California in the west, to Nebraska in the east.

In addition to Coca-Cola brands such as Diet Coke and Sprite, the company produces and distributes a range of other leading soft drink brands, including Schweppes, Canada Dry, Barq's Root Beer, Dr. Pepper, Dasani, Evian, Powerade and Minute Maid, as well as an extensive range of energy drinks.

Swire Pacific originally acquired The Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Salt Lake City in 1978. The Salt Lake City Coca- Cola franchise celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2006.

Swire Coca-Cola, Taiwan
Swire Pacific has an 80% shareholding in Swire Coca-Cola, Taiwan, one of the leading soft drink producers in Taiwan and the only authorised bottler of Coca-Cola and related brands of The Coca-Cola Co. The company also produces Nestea and Tien Ren Chinese tea ready-to-drink products.

Swire Coca-Cola has bottling plants in Kaohsiung and Taoyuan, complemented by a network of 15 sales and distribution centres.
