Swire Properties has unveiled the show apartment for OPUS HONG KONG, the highly anticipated first residential project in Asia by legendary architect Frank Gehry. The show apartment is designed by award-winning firm Yabu Pushelberg. Located at 53 Stubbs Road on The Peak, OPUS HONG KONG is a sculptural 12-storey building comprised of two double-level garden apartments and 10 apartments of some 6,000-6,900 sq ft, each occupying an entire floor of the building.   [ Details ]

Swire Properties has announced the sales launch of ARGENTA, which comprises 28 luxury apartments of 2,728 sq ft each, and two exclusive units consisting of a penthouse duplex of 4,450 sq ft and a deluxe apartment of 2,640 sq ft, both with their own spacious terraces. All 30 units are available for sale, with prices ranging from HK$57.3 million (HK$21,000 per sq ft) to HK$95.5 million (HK$35,000 per sq ft). Aviation

Cathay Pacific Airways' wholly owned subsidiary, Hong Kong Airport Services Limited ("HAS"), has announced the formation of a joint venture company for the provision of airport ground handling services at Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. The partners in the new company are Shanghai International Airport Co. Limited (41%) and its majority shareholder, Shanghai Airport Authority (10%), as well as Air China (24%) and HAS (25%). Cathay Pacific and HAS will provide strategic management support to the joint venture company.

Air China and HAS will contribute RMB86.4 million and RMB90 million in cash to the registered capital of the new company, which is to be named Shanghai International Airport Services Co. Limited. Shanghai Airport Authority and Shanghai International Airport Co. Limited will inject cash and their existing ground service equipment into the joint venture, as their contributions in kind in respect of their 10% and 41% shareholdings. They will also transfer their staff and existing ground handling services contracts to the new company, to ensure continuity of operations at both Pudong and Hongqiao airports. Air China will transfer its ground handling business to the new company at an appropriate time. Subject to approval by the relevant authorities, the joint venture company is expected to commence operations in the third quarter of 2012.   [ Details ]

Cathay Pacific Airways is expanding its presence in India with a new twice-weekly freighter service to Hyderabad, making it the first airline to offer an air cargo service linking India's fourth most populous city with East and North Asia. In addition, a third weekly freighter flight to Bengaluru has been added to meet high demand to and from India's leading information technology hub. Dragonair commenced a direct service from Hong Kong to Jeju in South Korea on 1st May. The thrice-weekly service, operated by A320 aircraft, is the only non-stop service on this route. Over the next few months, Dragonair will be launching a service to Clark in the Philippines and Chiang Mai in Thailand, bringing its network of services to 39 destinations in the Asia-Pacific region.   [ Details ]

Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company Limited (HAECO) was named "Leading Independent MRO Organisation" at the 2012 Aviation Week MRO of the Year Awards held in Dallas, Texas, in April. The annual awards honour the best maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) and aftermarket aviation industry companies around the world for pioneering achievements and value-adding accomplishments.   [ Details ]

Beverages

Swire Coca-Cola Beverages Hefei has invested RMB 130 million to build a high-speed PET production line, which is expected to be in operation from June. With this new line, SCCBH's annual output will reach 30 million unit cases.

Swire Guangdong Coca-Cola has been awarded "Top 100 Corporation" by the Huizhou Municipal Inland Revenue Bureau, while Swire Coca-Cola Beverages Zhengzhou has been awarded the "Caring Corporation" recognition by the Red Cross in Zhengzhou for a donation to the underprivileged families in the area to keep warm in the winter.

Marine Services

Swire Pacific Offshore Operations (Pte) Limited (SPO) has received the "Top Notch Award 2011" from client, Fugro - the world's largest integrated geotechnical, survey and geosciences company - for the performance of its six-streamer, 3D seismic survey vessel, Geo Natuna. The award was introduced by Fugro Geoteam two years ago to recognise the vessel with the lowest downtime in their fleet. The scheme's objective is to highlight and improve safety and operational efficiency through avoiding equipment accidents and achieving low, consistent and predictable technical downtime.
