Cathay Pacific Cargo has received two prestigious awards from leading airfreight industry publications, highlighting the carrier's commitment to offering quality products and providing the best possible service to its customers around the world.
Cathay Pacific was named Best Cargo Airline to the Asia Pacific region in the annual Cargo Airline of the Year awards hosted by Air Cargo News, a leading UK cargo magazine. The award was voted for by forwarding agents from 97 countries and territories.
Earlier, Cathay Pacific was named Best Air Cargo Carrier - Asia in the 2008 Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards (AFSCAs) organised by leading regional industry publication Cargonews Asia. Voted for by readers, the AFSCAs are widely regarded as the most authoritative and prestigious awards for the industry in Asia.
Rounding off a strong winning streak, Cathay Pacific was also honoured in the recent 2006/2007 FAPAA Asia Pacific Air Cargo Awards for Excellence, held in Japan. The airline took third place for the Best Airline for Cargo Service category.
Cathay Pacific Director & General Manager Cargo Ron Mathison said: "We are delighted and honoured to receive these accolades from the airfreight industry, which acknowledge the strength of the product and service we now offer to customers worldwide. We remain committed to those customers, and to further developing Hong Kong's position as the world's leading airfreight hub."
Together with its sister airline Dragonair, Cathay Pacific is one of the largest freighter operators in the world, with a combined fleet of 26 Boeing 747 freighters and an order book that will take its fleet to 35 freighters by the end of 2012.
Cathay Pacific recently announced the expansion of its freighter network to include Miami and Houston with a thrice-weekly service to both cities commencing in September. This will bring the total number of freight destinations to 36.
