Cathay Pacific Releases October Traffic Figures

Cathay Pacific Airways carried 999,793 passengers in October as demand remained strong across its global network. This brought the total for the first ten months of the year to 9.92 million, growth of 14.4% over the same period in 1999. The airline operated 2,191 return flights during October, up from 2,105 in September as extra flights were added to meet increasing demand.

Cathay Pacific also carried a new record of 74,062 tonnes of freight during the month, surpassing the previous record of 69,965 tonnes transported in September. The airline has now carried 631,606 tonnes of freight over the first 10 months, growth of 16.4% over the same period the year before.

Cathay Pacific's General Manager Network Revenue Ian Shiu said: "Overall demand remains very robust throughout our network, particularly in the area of cargo. The number of business travellers is also much higher than it was a year ago."
