Cathay Pacific Welcomes CEPA VII Measures on Tourism

Cathay Pacific Airways today welcomed Supplement VII under the Mainland and Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) which provides further economic and trade cooperation and exchanges, in particular measures to facilitate tourism.

In relation to tourism, CEPA VII provides that Hong Kong travel agents established on a wholly owned or joint-venture basis in the Beijing and Shanghai municipalities are allowed to apply to operate, on a pilot basis, group tours to Hong Kong and Macau for permanent residents of Beijing and Shanghai.

A spokesman for Cathay Pacific said: "The new arrangement will enable Hong Kong wholly owned travel agents to offer more comprehensive and higher quality tour packages and services for the Mainland China markets. We look forward to a further expansion of destinations beyond Hong Kong and Macau for which agents are allowed to offer their services in the Mainland."
