Dragonair Strengthens Mainland China Network with New Service to Wenzhou

Dragonair today announced it will launch a new daily service to Wenzhou, commencing on 25 January 2013 (subject to government approval). Wenzhou will become Dragonair's 22nd destination in Mainland China, further strengthening the airline's extensive network in its core market. The new daily service will be operated by A320 aircraft.

Wenzhou, located in Zhejiang Province in the south-east of the country, has become an economic powerhouse in the region. The city is a well-developed manufacturing and commercial hub, and its people are well-known for their entrepreneurial drive. Many Wenzhou citizens have emigrated to Europe and North America over the years, helping to strengthen the city's ties with economies in the West.

"We are very excited to serve the city of Wenzhou, whose vibrant commercial activities and strong overseas ties provide great market potential for both the business and leisure travel segments," said Patrick Yeung, Dragonair Chief Executive Officer.

"Our latest destination will reinforce our commitment to developing our core Mainland China market and at the same time boost Hong Kong's role as a major international aviation hub. The Wenzhou service will provide passengers with more choice and greater convenience when travelling between Hong Kong and Wenzhou, and seamless connections onto the extensive global network offered by Dragonair's sister airline, Cathay Pacific."

Dragonair has resumed or launched eight destinations in 2012. In addition to Wenzhou, the airline has already announced that it will start new services to Zhengzhou and Yangon in January 2013. Following the launch of Wenzhou, Dragonair's network will number 44 destinations in the region.
