HAECO and CALC sign MoU to advance Hong Kong's aviation hub development through engine support platform collaboration

HAECO and CALC sign MoU to advance Hong Kong's aviation hub development through engine support platform collaboration

HAECO, a leading global aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services provider, and China Aircraft Leasing Group Holdings Limited (CALC) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly establish a strategic framework to develop an engine lifecycle support platform in Hong Kong.

The MoU marks a significant milestone in the two companies' shared commitment to contributing to the continued development of Hong Kong as a leading international aviation hub through closer collaboration in high value-added aviation services.

Under the agreement, HAECO and CALC will explore the development of an engine quick-turn platform in Hong Kong, with an initial focus on quick-turn services, hospital repair and engine asset management. The collaboration will also seek to optimise the utilisation of used serviceable materials (USM) and enhance value across the aircraft lifecycle.

Combining HAECO's world-class MRO expertise with CALC's aircraft asset management capabilities and commercial support, the partnership will strengthen regional aviation support capabilities while fostering innovation and enhancing supply chain resilience.

Richard Sell, Chief Executive Officer of HAECO Group, said, “The timing of the partnership is significant. It brings together two Hong Kong-based companies with a shared ambition to support the industry’s future growth and reinforce Hong Kong’s position in the global aviation value chain. We look forward to working closely with CALC to create greater value for our customers, for the broader industry, while contributing to Hong Kong's development as an international aviation hub and a leading centre for aviation services.”

Mike Poon, Chief Executive Officer of CALC, said, “Hong Kong has long been recognised as a global centre for aviation, supported by its strategic location, world-class infrastructure and deep industry expertise. We are delighted to partner with HAECO to advance high value-added aviation services in Hong Kong and the wider region, enhance aircraft asset utilisation, and unlock new opportunities across the aviation value chain. Together, we are committed to advancing the development of the aviation industry, in a way that reflects the vision of China's 15th Five-Year Plan.”

The signing ceremony was witnessed by senior representatives from the HKSAR Government, the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR, the Civil Aviation Department (CAD), Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK), Swire Group, China Everbright Group, the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), the Hong Kong Aircraft USM Industry Task Force and other aviation industry stakeholders. Distinguished guests included Mr. Algernon Yau, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development; Ms. Mable Chan, Secretary for Transport and Logistics; and Ms. Clara Wong, Director-General of Civil Aviation. Their presence underscores the strategic importance of the collaboration and reflects a shared commitment to strengthening Hong Kong's position as a leading international aviation hub.
