The Swire Group Charitable Trust was sponsor of the Young Chinese Performers Series (www.rthk.org.hk/special/ycp2006), a nine-part television programme produced by Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) to celebrate the outstanding success and achievements of nine ethnic Chinese artists from Hong Kong and the Mainland. As part of the sponsorship, Swire has corroborated with RTHK to produce 2,000 DVD sets of the series to be given away to secondary schools in Hong Kong and the Mainland.
Televised last summer, the series traces the paths to success of nine talented young artists in various fields of performing arts. They are: Chen Sa (piano), Xing Liang (modern dance), Zhang Liping (soprano), Karen Han (Er Hu), Colleen Lee (piano), Huang Mengla (violin), Li Hanzhong (choreography), Qin Liwei (cello) and Faye Leung (ballet).
Mrs. Maisie Shun Wah, General Manger, Group Public Affairs of Swire Pacific Ltd., said: "Swire is delighted to be a partner in this project. We have a long history of supporting education, as well as the arts and culture. We feel that these young talents are very positive role models for young people. Hence, we hope that by sharing the series with secondary school students, our young generation will be inspired to pursue arts or other aspirations with the dedication, passion and determination as demonstrated by these young artists."
