Swire "Believe in Hong Kong" Exhibition

Swire "Believe in Hong Kong" Exhibition

A showcase of Swire's long-term commitment to Hong Kong  a fun and engaging experience for all

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Swire is reprising its well-received "Believe in Hong Kong" Exhibition from 22nd October to 6th November 2022 at Cityplaza, Taikoo Shing.

"Believe in Hong Kong" was first launched in 2021 to illustrate Swire's development in Hong Kong over more than 150 years. It now returns to Quarry Bay, once home to Swire's Taikoo Dockyard and Taikoo Sugar Refinery, and today a thriving residential, retail, and global business hub, transformed by Swire Properties.

The exhibition is an accredited event celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. As the name implies, "Believe in Hong Kong" underlines Swire's confidence in Hong Kong and our determination to see it thrive for the long-term.

"Swire has grown and evolved with Hong Kong since we first opened an office here in 1870. We have weathered numerous ups and downs together and we have remained a determined long-term investor and corporate citizen. This exhibition illustrates the role we have played in building and strengthening Hong Kong as a leading commercial centre and international aviation hub; it also showcases the philanthropic initiatives that have supported the wider Hong Kong community. It reaffirms Swire's long-term commitment to the future of Hong Kong as the SAR celebrates the 25th anniversary of its establishment," said Guy Bradley, Chairman of John Swire & Sons (H.K.) Limited.

"Believe in Hong Kong" comprises six themed zones:
""Early Entrepreneurship", "Refining Industry", "Maritime Evolution", "Transforming Communities" and "Building an Aviation Hub" tell the story of Swire's business development and the transformation of Hong Kong. "Realising Potential" highlights Swire's philanthropic projects and its TrustTromorrow initiative that aims to bring positive change to the community. New, interactive, family-friendly installations and photo opportunities have been added to create a more engaging experience for the public.

Collectible Pins
A set of collectible pins, representing Swire's core businesses and community initiatives, has been specially designed for the exhibition at Cityplaza. Visitors can collect them from the pin walls throughout the exhibition.

Live Music
Swire's community partners, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and The Orchestra Academy Hong Kong, will stage special performances at the exhibition on 23rd and 30th October (Sun), presenting uplifting, easy-listening music to engage visitors.

Fun Photo Spots
The exhibition offers many fun photo spots for visitors to take selfies and capture memories:

Taikoo Sugar installation
A new addition to the exhibition, this giant Taikoo Sugar carton in classic packaging design reminds us that Taikoo Sugar has been a popular household staple since the early 1880s.

Swire Coca-Cola vending machine
Coca-Cola fans can take a selfie with the antique vending machine or purchase a Coca-Cola coin bank from the coin bank vending machine; both are new to the exhibition.

Cathay Pacific Business Class seats
A much loved installation is back to satisfy visitors' travel thirst.

Magic Mirror
A popular interactive installation is here again for visitors to project themselves into their favourite career: as Cathay Pacific flight or cabin crew, a HAECO aircraft engineer, or a Swire Coca-Cola salesperson.

Interactive Experiences

Portrait Gallery
This new digital installation greets visitors in the main entrance of the exhibition. On display is a nostalgic collection of photos featuring Swire's businesses, milestone events, community projects, and people.

Moments in Time
A new RFID installation for aviation fans traces Cathay Pacific's development for over 75 years. The RFID blocks unfold albums that show the airline's aircraft, crew, network, and inflight services, as well as aircraft maintenance work at HAECO.

Educational Games
Popular educational games are back for young visitors:

My Swire City
Visitors can build an ideal Swire City in this interactive game, with their own choice of buildings and facilities - enabling them to learn how to plan a thriving and sustainable neighbourhood.

1870s Steamship Voyage
Visitors will experience the challenges faced by an 1870s steamship captain via five action-filled mini-games.

How Does a Dry Dock Work
This model illustrates how a dry dock operates, from opening the water gate to bring in the ship, to pumping out the seawater and conducting maintenance work, and finally to flooding the dock with seawater to release the ship.
