Four-day event offers over 20,000 quality items and debuts products specially designed for carers and those in need
Swire Properties’ Community Ambassador (CA) Programme kicks off its “Community Ambassador – Together for 25 Years” Charity Bazaar today at Cityplaza, a highlight of its year-long 25th anniversary celebrations. Running from 15 to 18 October (Thursday to Sunday), the four-day event offers more than 20,000 limited-edition items priced from HKD25, while bringing together long-term partners, volunteers and the wider community to celebrate 25 years of partnership and community impact. All sales proceeds will be donated to Agency for Volunteer Service (AVS) to promote the sustainable development of volunteerism and support underprivileged communities.
Mr Edward To, Director of Social Welfare of the Hong Kong SAR Government, and Mr Tim Blackburn, Chief Executive of Swire Properties, officiated at today’s opening ceremony. They were joined by representatives from Swire Properties; AVS, the Charity Bazaar’s beneficiary; and the CA Programme’s long-term NGO partners, including St. James’ Settlement, the Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA), The Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong (BGCA) and SAHK.
“The CA Programme has been our core platform to support and give back to our communities, and we are delighted to celebrate its achievements over the past 25 years with our Community Ambassadors, Government and NGO partners, tenants, business partners and the community,” said Tim Blackburn, Chief Executive of Swire Properties.
“At Swire Properties, our placemaking ethos is about connecting people and helping to build inclusive, supportive and sustainable communities. More than a fundraising event and anniversary celebration, the Charity Bazaar is a platform for people to come together and extend meaningful support to carers and others in need. This reflects what the CA Programme has stood for over the past 25 years: empowering people in need, strengthening communities and building enduring partnerships that turn shared purpose into meaningful action. Together with our partners and growing volunteer network, we look forward to creating an even greater and more lasting positive impact in the years ahead.”
Among the Charity Bazaar’s highlights is the debut of products specially designed to make everyday life easier for carers and people in need. These include a sensory calming storage pouch, co-designed through the Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association’s “SEWomen” initiative to help neurodivergent children self-regulate while making everyday care easier for their carers, and a one-handed bottle opener, nail clipper and metered-dose inhaler pressing aid developed by D TEAM under St. James’ Settlement’s Delightful Integrated Vocational Rehabilitation Services Centre.
The Charity Bazaar will also feature an extensive selection of handcrafted products co-created by the CA Programme and NGO partners, including the YWCA, SAHK and BGCA, as well as merchandise created by local designers Din Dong and Dustykid. As part of the 25th anniversary celebration, limited-edition CA-branded items, including stainless-steel food containers, cutlery sets and yoga mats, will also be available.
A programme of engaging activities will complement the shopping experience throughout the four-day event. Young artists with autism will create live portrait sketches for donors on 17 and 18 October, while shoppers presenting bazaar purchase receipts can take part in scented sachet workshops. Visitors can also enjoy interactive photo opportunities at a large-scale 3D art installation.
To celebrate the CA Programme’s 25th anniversary, Swire Properties has launched a series of special initiatives. Among the highlights is the “Community Ambassadors X Partners Volunteer Hub”, developed with Time Auction and AVS to encourage tenants and key stakeholders to join the volunteer network.
Since 2001, the CA Programme has contributed nearly one million hours to serve more than 600,000 people in the community. The Programme has organised signature initiatives that have become key community events, including the annual Books for Love @ $10 and Little Fashion for Love, and collaborated with NGO partners on social programmes such as “SEWomen” and a carers exhibition series to empower women and carers respectively.
