Rebranding of INDIGO as Taikoo Place Beijing Completed
Swire Properties has officially completed the rebranding of INDIGO as Taikoo Place Beijing. The rebranding brings its landmark mixed-use development in Beijing’s Chaoyang District and the upcoming Phase Two expansion together under the Company's renowned Taikoo Place brand.
Over more than four decades, Taikoo Place Hong Kong has evolved into what is widely regarded as one of the city’s best-planned international business and lifestyle hubs. The brand is recognised in Hong Kong for its strong sense of community, exceptional public spaces and commitment to leadership in sustainability.
“The introduction of the Taikoo Place brand to the Chinese Mainland marks an important milestone for Swire Properties. In Beijing, we are creating a destination that responds to the city’s distinctive character and to the needs and future aspirations of its communities,” said David Poraj-Wilczynski, Chief Executive Officer, Chinese Mainland, Swire Properties. “Taikoo Place Beijing will become a human-centric, round-the-clock, mixed-use destination. Its rich variety of amenities and public spaces will offer places to work, shop and make social connections. We hope this will enhance Chaoyang District’s existing appeal and contribute to Beijing’s evolution as an international consumption centre city that combines global retail, cultural tourism and digital commerce.”
“Taikoo Place Beijing represents the realisation of a vision that has been many years in the making. As we move to the next phase, our focus is on bringing that vision to life: a vibrant riverfront destination where business, culture, nature and everyday life converge. We look forward to seeing Taikoo Place Beijing establish itself as a place people feel connected to. It is a place that will continuously evolve and thrive alongside the city for many years to come,” said Guy Moore, General Manager of Taikoo Place Beijing.
Taikoo Place Beijing represents Swire Properties’ largest single investment in the Chinese Mainland. Upon completion, the integrated development alongside the Ba River will comprise more than 860,000 sqm of gross floor area, bringing together office, retail, hospitality, arts and culture, wellness and nature in a riverside location. Its components will include eight Grade-A office towers, an expanded premium shopping mall spanning indoor and outdoor spaces, The Delphi social and wellness hub, a new lifestyle hotel, and expansive areas for arts and culture and recreational activities.
Designed to embrace its waterside setting, Taikoo Place Beijing is connected via an extensive network of climate-controlled bridges, tunnels and outdoor pathways. Landscaped open areas and the Ba River waterfront will provide inviting spaces for work, leisure and community interaction. Together, these interconnected areas reflect a more human-centric, sustainable approach to urban development.
As a major centre for research, science and innovation, Beijing is home to a strong concentration of leading enterprises. The expanded office portfolio at Taikoo Place Beijing is designed to meet these businesses’ evolving needs while helping to attract domestic and multinational companies and talent to Chaoyang District. Each office tower features a distinctive interior identity shaped by its architectural character. Materials such as timber, stone and terracotta bring warmth, texture and a human scale to the workplace environment.
The expanded mall will span a combined total area of 150,000 sqm and host approximately 400 retail brands across three interconnected zones: Taikoo Place East, West and Central. A carefully curated mix of lifestyle, dining, leisure and experiential offerings will create an “urban oasis”.
Connectivity is key. Taikoo Place Beijing has direct Metro links to Line 14. Government-led improvements to the surrounding transport network will provide increasingly convenient access to the CBD, Beijing Capital International Airport, Beijing Daxing International Airport and key transport hubs, as well as major road networks including the airport expressway (S12) and the 4th and 5th Ring Roads.
Four newly completed Grade-A office towers and the adjacent retail space received occupation permits in late September, bringing the development another step closer to full operation. Phased handovers are currently underway.
To mark this next chapter, Taikoo Place Beijing has launched “The Flow of Art”, its first creative initiative under the new brand. Inspired by the Ba River and the surrounding natural landscape, the initiative marks the start of this new chapter in its arts programme. Upon completion of the development, ArtisTree will provide a dedicated venue for exhibitions, performances and events, fostering creativity and connection and further establishing Taikoo Place Beijing as a destination for arts and culture and community engagement.
