TAECO Opens Sixth Hangar in Xiamen

Taikoo (Xiamen) Aircraft Engineering Company Limited (TAECO) opened its sixth maintenance hangar at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport today. The US$73.5 million investment in the new hangar facilities underpins the Company's confidence in serving the burgeoning demand for aircraft engineering services worldwide. The new 45,790 square-metre hangar is fully equipped to accommodate two wide-body aircraft, enabling capacity expansion by 20%.

TAECO takes pride in its leadership position in Airframe Maintenance, Freighter Conversion and Cabin Reconfiguration. The Cabin Completion Centre in the new facility unveils TAECO's long term vision in serving the growing executive and corporate jet cabin outfitter market in Mainland China and the rest of Asia. The Airbus approved Cabin Completion Centre is housed in one of the bays of the sixth hangar, isolated from the rest of facility, to provide utmost privacy and security for the customers' aircraft. To facilitate cabin outfitting work, the sixth hangar is equipped with a wide variety of executive and corporate jet support shops and a customer showroom.

Taikoo (Xiamen) Aircraft Engineering Company Limited (TAECO) is located in the Gaoqi International Airport in Xiamen with Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company Limited (HAECO) being its major shareholder. It has six hangars and is capable of accommodating 12 wide-body and five narrow-body aircraft. The Company has approvals to handle a wide variety of aircraft types on heavy maintenance as well as passenger-to-freighter conversion. TAECO is the first Airbus approved corporate jet cabin outfitter in the Asia Pacific region. TAECO also provides line maintenance, engineering design, parts manufacturing, training and other services to the industry.

CapacityThe 162m wide by 94m deep hangar is capable of accommodating two wide-body (B747-sized) aircraft and one narrow-body (A320-sized) aircraft fully enclosed.
DesignThe hangar is supported by a lightweight rigid space frame structure providing a huge, column-free space that allows great flexibility in maintenance planning. Equipped with two full sets of aircraft docks, cranes and paint curtains, the new facility has full capability for major aircraft maintenance work and painting. The hangar-wide annex building is equipped with specialised workshops and stores. It is designed to be environmentally friendly with designated wastewater treatment system.
