A successful and winning team is about people and culture – I am glad to be part of the Swire team.

I joined Swire’s IT & Digital department a little over two years ago, focusing on IT and digital solutions. The focus of our team is threefold. We ensure daily operations run smoothly, we gather data to bring insight driven decisions to life and explore how we can innovate and establish a ‘work force of the future’. 

This means that we are testing technologies such as low-code development, robotic process automation and AI to support our people in their day-to-day work. In parallel, we are increasing our data literacy agenda and working with different business teams on building up our data and analytic capabilities.  

One of the first projects I worked on involved a number of our Operating Companies where we converted various manual processes into a new system. The project involved multiple stakeholders, requirements, and skillsets. However, each group of people we interacted with, had common traits - they were open, welcoming and brought along their skills and their dedication to the project.

The new system provides a higher degree of flexibility and visibility to our people.  The technological decisions we had to make were complex, balancing commercial and technical sustainability. Working alongside teams within Swire, we laid the foundation for some pretty key aspects of our future application landscape.

Of course we are keeping track of new technologies such as web3, metaverse and NFTs to understand how we can bring those ideas into the business too.  My team and I are passionate about how technology can unlock new value for the business and Swire has a culture that encourages that.  I can’t wait to see what we can achieve working together!
