The only company headquartered in Hong Kong to be listed on the index, underlining Swire's commitment to workplace diversity and inclusion
Swire Pacific has been listed on the 2022 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI), which acknowledges the company's commitment to achieving gender equality.
This year, a total of 418 companies across 45 countries and regions are listed on the 2022 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index, a modified market capitalisation-weighted index that aims to track the performance of public companies committed to transparency in gender-data reporting. This reference index measures gender equality across five pillars: female leadership & talent pipeline, equal pay & gender pay parity, inclusive culture, anti-sexual harassment policies, and pro-women brand.
Swire Pacific is the only company headquartered in Hong Kong that is listed on the index. The company scored at or above a global threshold established by Bloomberg to reflect gender-data disclosure and the achievement of best-in-class policies. The company scored well in inclusive culture, anti-sexual harassment policies and pro-women brand.
"At Swire Pacific, we celebrate the diversity of our workforce and are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive working environment for all our people so they can realise their full potential and grow. We are proud to be listed on the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index in our debut participation and will continue to promote equal opportunities in all our businesses," said Olivia Wong, Group Head of Diversity & Inclusion of Swire Pacific Limited.
A number of initiatives have been rolled out at Swire Pacific to build a diverse and inclusive workplace environment. These include the Swire Women's Network, which was established in 2015 to retain potential female leaders and advance their careers, as well as the Male Allies initiative, which aims to engage male colleagues in operating companies in the gender inclusion conversation. Swire also introduced the Flexible Working Policy and Parental Leave Policy to better support colleagues with childcare responsibilities.
"We are proud to recognise Swire Pacific and the other 417 companies included in the 2022 GEI for their commitment to transparency and setting a new standard in gender-related data reporting," said Peter T. Grauer, Chairman of Bloomberg and Founding Chairman of the U.S. 30% Club. "Even though the threshold for inclusion in the GEI has risen, the member list continues to grow. This is a testament that more companies are working to improve upon their gender-related metrics, fostering more opportunity for diverse talent to succeed in their organisations."
