Swire Pacific, Swire Properties and Cathay Pacific are among five Hong Kong companies recognised globally for their commitment to workplace diversity and inclusion
Swire Pacific is listed on the 2023 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI), together with operating companies Swire Properties and Cathay Pacific. These three Swire companies are among five Hong Kong companies listed on this year's index, reflecting a Group-wide dedication to advancing gender equality in the workplace.
GEI is a modified market capitalisation-weighted index developed to gauge the performance of public companies dedicated to reporting gender-related data. It measures gender equality across five pillars: leadership & talent pipeline, equal pay & gender pay parity, inclusive culture, anti-sexual harassment policies, and external brand. A total of 484 global companies from a variety of sectors in 45 countries and regions are included this year.
Swire Pacific is included on the index for the second year in a row; this year it is joined for the first time by Swire Properties and Cathay Pacific. All three companies scored at or above a global threshold established by Bloomberg, reflecting the achievement or adoption of best-in-class policies and statistics, and transparent reporting.
"As an international group of companies, Swire Pacific recognises and values the importance of diversity in our workforce and is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive working environment for all of our people," said Anna Thompson, Staff Director, Swire Pacific Limited. "We are delighted to be listed on the 2023 GEI, together with Swire Properties and Cathay Pacific; and we will continue to work collectively to advocate equal opportunities and diversity within the Swire Group and to the wider communities in which we operate."
Swire Pacific has recently appointed more female Independent Non-Executive Directors to its Board to strengthen diversity at the most senior levels. A number of initiatives are in place at Swire Pacific and its operating companies to build a diverse and inclusive workplace environment, including a Group-wide Diversity and Inclusion Steering Committee, the Swire Women's Network, as well as policies to build a supportive workplace.
